Ferry from Hull to Bruges
Bruges may not have its own ferry port, but it is one of the most popular destinations in Belgium. While the direct ferry to nearby Zeebrugge no longer operates, reaching Bruges by ferry remains easy. The most practical option is the overnight Hull–Rotterdam crossing with P&O Ferries. You leave Hull in the evening, enjoy a night on board and arrive in the Netherlands the following morning. From Rotterdam, it’s a straightforward drive of around two hours to Bruges.

A comfortable overnight crossing on large ferries. The sailing is short enough to get some rest while still arriving early in the Netherlands, leaving you with a full day to enjoy in Belgium. Thanks to excellent public transport connections, it’s also a popular choice with cyclists.
Ferry services from Hull to Bruges
The short crossings from Dover are run by P&O Ferries, DFDS and Irish Ferries; the North Sea routes by P&O Ferries (Hull to Rotterdam), Stena Line (Harwich to the Hook of Holland) and DFDS (Newcastle to Amsterdam). The Newhaven to Dieppe crossing is run by DFDS.

Onboard experience
For travellers from northern England, Hull–Rotterdam is often the most comfortable route to Bruges. The Pride of Hull and Pride of Rotterdam offer restaurants, bars, lounges, cabins and onboard entertainment.
From the arrival port to your destination
Bruges is located in north-west Belgium and is easy to reach from Rotterdam Europoort.
- Belgian border: approximately 45–60 minutes by car
- Antwerp: approximately 1 hour 15 minutes by car
- Ghent: approximately 1 hour 45 minutes by car
- Bruges: approximately 2 hours by car
For many travellers, the extra driving time is more than offset by the comfort of the overnight sailing.
By car
You can, of course, bring your car on board the ferry. Many visitors choose to park just outside the historic centre and explore on foot, as Bruges is a compact city with most of its major attractions located within walking distance. Having your own car also makes it easy to combine Bruges with other destinations such as Ghent, Antwerp or the Belgian coast during the same trip.
