Ferry from Newcastle to Antwerp
From Newcastle, Antwerp is one overnight sailing and a two-hour drive away, even though no ferry goes there directly. DFDS sails overnight to IJmuiden every evening, and from the terminal it is motorway all the way to Antwerp. Hull to Rotterdam lands you a little closer, if Hull is easier to reach for you.

In our experience, this is the most enjoyable ferry crossing to the Netherlands. It feels like part of the holiday rather than just transportation and is also popular as a mini-cruise. The only downside is that it leaves you a little farther from Belgium than some of the other routes.
