Ferry from the UK to Zeebrugge
Zeebrugge is rarely a destination in its own right. Instead, it is best known as the Belgian port that once welcomed ferries from the United Kingdom. Over the years, several ferry routes connected Britain with Zeebrugge, including services from Tilbury, Rosyth and Hull. The most famous of them all was the Hull–Zeebrugge ferry, the last direct passenger ferry route between the UK and Belgium, which ceased operations in 2021.
That brings us to the current situation: there are no longer any direct passenger ferries between the UK and Belgium. Fortunately, Belgium remains easy to reach by sea, with several alternatives available via France and the Netherlands, including the crossings listed below.

We’ve sailed with every ferry operator on the Dover–Calais route ourselves. We were particularly impressed by P&O Ferries thanks to its competitive fares, modern ships, clean facilities, spacious outdoor decks, and overall comfort. For most travellers heading to Belgium, this is often the fastest and most affordable option.
Our experience
We found this to be a pleasant and relaxed crossing with a convenient schedule. It’s particularly well suited to travellers with a car or motorcycle, as onward travel options for foot passengers are more limited.
